Oh no...shots!

Hanalei had her four month checkup yesterday. (really, four months already?) For most of the appointment she was smiling away and keeping us entertained with her gurgles and goos. She's 90% for length at 26" and 75% for weight at 14 lb and 10 oz.

She was super brave for the shots but you can sense her apprehension...

The family that watches together...

...stays together.

I'd like to say that my brood is sitting here enthralled by the ballet, or some kind of educational programming at least. But nope, we're watching despicable me and were loving it (all of us).

Disclaimer for the grandmas: though we all love us some good tv, we limit max to a few times a week and usually are good about keeping Hana facing the other way.

The kids' new talents

Miss Hana has become an expert at her yoga with the happy baby pose. It was so funny, since birth she has laid on her back happily much of the time. Then, like flipping a switch, she found her feet and rolls around like this when ever she is on the floor.

On the other hand, Max is becoming more of a ham every day. He's snapped quite a few iPhone videos and self-portraits when I haven't been looking. Like this one... he'a actually a pretty good shot!

Home with mama

I officially returned to work on Tuesday. It was sad to say goodbye to maternity leave. Our little family had a joyful time playing together for the last four months. Max stayed home three days a week and, along with Hana, we had so much fun spending time together. It was simply wonderful to connect with my children.

Back to work is such a mixed bag. On one hand it is desperately hard to leave my kids and I ache for them by the end of the day. On the other hand, I've slid right back into the routine at work and it barley seems like I was gone. There is something to be said for adult conversations and solving problems on a different scale than "where is the lid for the play-doh now?

However, today I am at home with my little girl. We plan to play, snuggle, grocery shop, and then play some more. We'll pick up max early this afternoon and get some quality time together.

We're off!
